The More Trees Project

Posted on 26th April 2021 by

We’re delighted to announce our recent partnership with More Trees; a project designed to help offset our carbon footprint. For any journey where we do not utilise our Fully Electric Coaches, we will donate funds to More Trees who will plant a tree for each journey!
Each tree planted can offset around 300kg of CO2, the equivalent of 792 miles in a standard car. These trees will be planted in much needed areas – the current projects being supported by More Trees are in Madagascar, Kenya and Haiti. Our recent order of an additional two Ultra-Low emission double-decker buses will be our last new order of diesel powered vehicles. With many exciting projects coming up involving Fully Electric transport and our new app being launched soon – sustainable travel has never looked this good or been easier.

The UK’s Fourth Fully Electric Coach

Posted on 26th August 2020 by

With the successful launch of our three fully electric coaches, the first of their kind in the UK, we feel that our commitment to operating a sustainable, net zero fleet should be unchanged. With ZERO tail pipe emissions and an extraordinarily refined experience, with only the slight hum of the electric motors, they are ideal for a range of work or for anyone requiring to move larger groups of passengers but in the most sustainable way possible.

Our fully electric coaches have been utilised on a variety of work, including promotional campaigns, weddings, sustainability & corporate events.
Unfortunately, our original April delivery was delayed due to the global pandemic, but our fourth Yutong TCE12 fully electric coach will be with us this Autumn! Along with our standard high specification, our fourth electric coach features a unique wheelchair accessibility lift, Half-Leather Reclining Seats each with their own USB Charge points, Air-conditioning and LED Lighting.
Another step closer to our goal, and another unique option to offer to our clients.

COVID-19/Corona Virus Outbreak – Our Response

Posted on 8th March 2020 by

Procedures in Place.

With the recent outbreak of COVID-19, more commonly known as the Corona Virus – we have introduced precautionary measures to mitigate the transfer of infection. All vehicles from Saturday the 29th February 2020 have been equipped with anti-bacterial wipes and hand wash.

All contact surfaces are thoroughly wiped after each client leaves the vehicle, this is then followed by a vigorous cleaning at the ends of days play, which is of standard procedure here at Westway. We have taken additional steps further and introduced disinfectant to our floor cleaning products.

The UK Government advises the following :

The advice for anyone in any setting is to follow these main guidelines.

  1. If you have been in contact with someone with coronavirus or have returned from an affected area identified by the Chief Medical Officer as high risk and you are feeling unwell with a cough, difficulty breathing or fever, stay at home and use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service or call NHS 111.
  2. Wash your hands more often than usual, for 20 seconds using soap and hot water, particularly after coughing, sneezing and blowing your nose, or after being in public areas where other people are doing so. Use hand sanitiser if that’s all you have access to.
  3. To reduce the spread of germs when you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, or your sleeve (not your hands) if you don’t have a tissue, and throw the tissue away immediately. Then wash your hands or use a hand sanitising gel.
  4. Clean and disinfect regularly touched objects and surfaces using your regular cleaning products to reduce the risk of passing the infection on to other people.

At the current time and based on our understanding of what is known of COVID-19 and other similar respiratory viruses, it is likely that older people and those with chronic medical conditions may be vulnerable to severe disease. As more information emerges, recommendations may change.

More information can be found on https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/coronavirus-covid-19-list-of-guidance – Should you have any further questions on our service and policy in regard to the above, please do not hesitate to contact us.
